He is not Here, He has risen – The Resurrection

Luke 24:5-8. The angel says to the women “Jesus has risen as He said he would.”

“So He is not here; Jesus has risen indeed.”

These women, going to look after a dead person very early in the morning were the first people recorded to have met the power of God after Jesus has risen from the dead.

To roll the two tonne stone uphill took quite a bit of effort and strength that the women did not have. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.

Background Reading:

The Resurrection

24:5 While the women remained terrified, bowing their faces to the ground, the men asked them, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is living? 6 He is not here, but has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day.’”

8 Then the women remembered Jesus’ words.
