Jesus war 40 Tage alt als er zum Tempel gebracht wurde, Lukas 2:22-24 – 11

Jesus was taken to the Temple in Jerusalem for the Jewish religious ritual of redemption, when he was 40 days old. This ritual was an obligatory ceremony for boys according to the law of Moses.

Scripture says a pair of doves, or two young pigeons was away of saying Mary and Joseph may not have been wealthy enough to afford a lamb.

Also, the first born son had to be redeemed as well. See Numbers 18:14-16. The redemption price set by God was five sanctuary shekels.

Jesus is the sacrificial lamb and the savior to the whole world.

At 40 days old Jesus was taken to Jerusalem, Why?

Two of the many rituals that were performed at the Temple:

The redemption of the first born at a cost of 5 shekels. See Exodus 13:2, Numbers 8:17, Numbers 18:15-16
The purification of a woman after child birth: A pair of doves, or two young pigeons were used by the poorer class and a lamb was used by the rich. Also see Exodus 13:2; Leviticus 12:1-8; Numbers 18:15-16
