Genesis 16:1-4 – בְּרֵאשִׁית טז, א-ד

Hagar the servant of Sarah Abraham’s wife bore a son for Abraham as was the Custom of the time when the wife could not have children. The son’s name was Ishmael who was about 13 years old when Issac was born to Sarah.
Abraham thought he was helping the Lord God by having a son with Hagar. The Lord God wanted the son to come from Sarah like he had promised. 		הגר שפחתה של שרה אשת אברהם ילדה בן לאברהם כנהוג בזמנים הם כאשר האישה לא יכלה ללדת. ישמעאל בנה של הגר היה כבן 13 שנים כאשר נולד יצחק לשרה.
אברהם חשב שהוא עזר לאלוהים בלהוליד בן עם הגר. אלוהים רצה שהבן יולד משרה כפי שהוא הבטיח.

Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare Abram no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. וְשָׂרַי אֵשֶׁת אַבְרָם, לֹא יָלְדָה לוֹ; וְלָהּ שִׁפְחָה מִצְרִית, וּשְׁמָהּ הָגָר.

וַתֹּאמֶר שָׂרַי אֶל-אַבְרָם, הִנֵּה-נָא עֲצָרַנִי יְהוָה מִלֶּדֶת–בֹּא-נָא אֶל-שִׁפְחָתִי, אוּלַי אִבָּנֶה מִמֶּנָּה; וַיִּשְׁמַע אַבְרָם, לְקוֹל שָׂרָי.

וַתִּקַּח שָׂרַי אֵשֶׁת-אַבְרָם, אֶת-הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית שִׁפְחָתָהּ, מִקֵּץ עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים, לְשֶׁבֶת אַבְרָם בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן; וַתִּתֵּן אֹתָהּ לְאַבְרָם אִישָׁהּ, לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה.

וַיָּבֹא אֶל-הָגָר, וַתַּהַר; וַתֵּרֶא כִּי הָרָתָה, וַתֵּקַל גְּבִרְתָּהּ בְּעֵינֶיהָ.
