Crossing the Jordan River

The miracle of God who stopped the Jordan River which was in flood so His people the Israelites could cross over to the promised land on dry ground.

God had already taken the Israelites across the Red Sea on dry land and for forty years or so in the desert.

Moses had a stone alter built out of stones from the river one for each of the 12 tribes.

This stone alter was recently found intact were the Israelites crossed the River Jordan.

Although the Israelites that came out of Egypt grumbled in their desert journey of about 40 years they were more or less God fearing until all the leaders that had seen the crossing of the Red Sea had died. Then they as a nation turned away from God yet in the times of trouble they as a nation returned to their God the creator of the universe.
