Revelation 16:3. Sea turned to blood. Why this happens we do not know. Possibly it is red algae because of pollution that makes the sea red and poisonous, or the sea becomes over salty.

All we know is this wrath or horror is from God, because it is the judgment on people who have rejected Him.

The believers will be kept safe and will not be harmed.

Could this not happen as the 2nd Trumpet? Revelation 8:8-9.

^a. Could this not happen literally, as it did under 2nd Trumpet (Revelation 8:8-9)?

The Sea here perhaps refers to the Mediterranean sea around which is located in the kingdom of the Antichrist. Pollution can turn water red with algae.
